Regulations and
Codes
Clarifications of Codes
- Pools must be 22-1/2 feet physically distant from and 10 feet
horizontally away from overhead,
Power lines & Broadband Communication Network Lines. (Power Lines
operating at 0 - 750 volts)
- Pools must be 10' from any
electrical devices or outlets, (exceptions apply).
- An outlet must be located within 10-20 feet from the inside pool
wall.
- A SPA OR HOT TUB
WHICH
HAS AN APPROVED SAFETY COVER, OR FIXTURES THAT
ARE DRAINED AFTER EACH USE,
ARE EXEMPT FROM MOST BARRIER REQUIRMENTS.
- Inground pools that have an Approved
Powered Safety Cover in use, are only exempt from the
door alarm on the house doors.
Pools still must have all other fence and gate barriers as required.
- Barriers are to be located so as to prohibit the use of
structures, equipment or similar objects from being
used to climb the barriers to gain access to the pool.
- Above ground Pools 48" or taller. Do
not require a fence around the entire yard. If an approved fence
encloses
the Access Ladder OR Access Deck. The filter system must be located so
that it cannot be used to climb into the pool.
- A "SAFETY" OR "FLIP UP" LADDER IS NOT
a replacement for an approved barrier, and a Self-Closing,
Self-Latching
Gate.
A STANDARD "CYCLONE" OR "CHAIN LINK"
FENCE is not adequate as a barrier. The mesh size is too large. You
must
install slats into the mesh to reduce the size of the openings.
